Difference-Maker Student Grant Recipients Announced!
Our first “Difference Maker” grant awardees were revealed at chapel – congratulations Keira Rack (4th grade) and Sydney Shelton and Natalie Ferdi (middle school)! These young ladies are following in the footsteps of guest speakers Jake Harriman of Nuru International and Jessie Simonson of 31 Bits Jewelry, who challenged our entire student body to consider how they can become “Difference Makers” for the Kingdom.
Keira’s vision is to launch “Cases of Love” by sewing pillowcases for children in the hospital, and then inviting individuals to purchase pillowcases and sign an attached card, with donations being given to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. She hopes to involve some fellow sewers and innovators to move this vision forward!
Natalie and Sydney are collaborating to create “Bake to Save,” a new branch for Walk4Water, an organization that provides water wells in Africa in places with no access to clean water. Natalie and Sydney’s plan is two-fold: bake items and raise funds at Walk 4 Water events, as well as mobilize other students to run their own bake sales and support Bake to Save.
We look forward to watching elementary and middle school come alongside these student leaders to help their ideas come to fruition! For information on the Difference Maker Grant Program, contact Community Connector Ali Bray.
